It’s been a busy summer at SRC, and we’ve been pleased to welcome Thomas Hudson and Adam El-Jouzi as part of our 2026 internship programme, giving them the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across different areas of the business.
Thomas returned to SRC for his second summer internship from the University of Nottingham, where he is studying Civil Engineering. Adam joined us from the University of Bath, ahead of returning for the second year of his Mathematics degree.
Throughout the summer, both have worked alongside teams across engineering, project management and business operations, gaining first-hand experience of the range of disciplines and activities involved in supporting and delivering infrastructure projects.
From developing technical and commercial understanding to building confidence with new systems, processes and ways of working, the programme is designed to give interns meaningful exposure to the industry while contributing to live work across the business.
As their internships come to an end, Thomas and Adam reflect on their experiences, what they have learned and their time as part of the SRC team.
“Returning to SRC has been an enriching and rewarding experience. Building on the experience I gained last year has allowed me to develop a much deeper understanding of commercial and contract management, with exposure to areas such as resource forecasting proving particularly valuable to my professional development. Gaining a greater insight into the commercial side of the business has broadened my understanding of how projects are managed beyond the technical aspects, and has given me a more well-rounded perspective of the industry. I am also very grateful for the welcoming and supportive community at SRC, which has made my time here both enjoyable and a valuable opportunity to learn from those around me.”

Internships provide an important opportunity for students to experience the infrastructure industry first-hand, apply their academic learning in a professional environment and gain a better understanding of the different career paths available to them.
It has been a pleasure having Thomas and Adam as part of the team this summer, and we wish them both every success as they return to university and continue their studies.
