SRC Rowing Team Completes the Great River Race with Charity Partner SBOAC

This weekend, a team from SRC took on the Great River Race, rowing 21.6 miles along the Thames from Millwall Dock to Ham. Often described as London’s river marathon, the event attracted more than 300 boats from around the world, making it both a physical challenge and a celebration of rowing.

SRC entered the race alongside our Local Charity Partner, Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre (SBOAC). The collaboration not only showcased the strength of teamwork, but also raised funds to support SBOAC’s work in providing access to outdoor activities for young people and the local community.

The event was a demanding test of endurance, but the commitment and determination of the team ensured they crossed the finish line together. The achievement was made all the more meaningful by the positive impact it will have for SBOAC through the donations raised.

“I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part in The Great River Race. It was no easy challenge, but through your determination, teamwork, and effort, you saw it through to the finish. The amount you have raised is truly incredible, and it will make a real difference.”

– Myriam Guenem, Events and Inclusion Coordinator at SBOAC.

“It was a great experience to be a part of. Thank you to SBOAC for making it possible and to all the other SRC rowers – I’m proud to have been part of the team.”

– Paul Cremins, Associate Director at SRC.
