SRC recently completed a full marathon rowing challenge along the River Thames, raising funds for Shadwell Basin Outdoor Activity Centre (SBOAC), the company’s local charity partner. The event, held last Friday, saw two SRC teams each row 26 miles — the equivalent of a full marathon — in a coordinated effort to support access to outdoor activities for young people.
The challenge was part of SRC’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and social impact, aligning with its broader values of inclusivity and opportunity. SBOAC provides outdoor education and adventure activities to children and young people across London, with a focus on ensuring participation is accessible to all, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance.
The rowing marathon was more than a test of endurance. For SRC, it was an opportunity to directly support an organisation that helps build confidence, resilience, and life skills in the next generation through outdoor learning. The teams demonstrated impressive determination and teamwork, completing the distance in record time.
In total, the challenge raised £2,700 for SBOAC, contributing to the Centre’s continued work in offering affordable and inclusive outdoor experiences to local communities.
SRC’s involvement with SBOAC reflects its wider support for grassroots initiatives that promote education, personal development, and wellbeing.
