Services: Civil Engineering
The Kings Cross Station Modernisation Project, commissioned by WSP, required comprehensive civil engineering design support. SRC Infrastructure stepped in to manage various civil engineering design inquiries, as well as aspects related to power and communications, following challenges with the previous designer’s contractual arrangements.
Leveraging its extensive knowledge of Transport for London (TfL) processes, SRC was able to quickly grasp WSP’s requirements and deliver effective solutions within the necessary timeframes. The team demonstrated exceptional efficiency and time management skills, which were critical in navigating the complexities of the project.
To facilitate collaboration, SRC developed close working relationships with WSP’s Design Manager and engineers. This included frequent site visits and participation in weekly meetings to provide progress updates and clarify further requirements, fostering a transparent and communicative environment.
John Lonergan, WSP’s Senior Project Engineer at the time, remarked, “It was the spirit of close collaboration we developed that gave us the confidence to give more tasks to SRC beyond the original scope, such as developing an earthing strategy and assessing the intelligibility of the PA system against the LU standards.” The successful execution of this commission not only reinforced the working relationship between SRC and PB but also laid the groundwork for continued collaboration in multiple TfL frameworks.
