Services: Procurement Advisory, Constructability Advisory, Value Engineering
SRC Infrastructure was appointed to provide critical procurement and constructability advisory services for the Colindale Station Redevelopment, ensuring that the London Underground (LU) project team’s baseline scheme was both cost-effective and buildable. The project required a collaborative and structured approach to evaluating construction studies and value engineering proposals from TfL Framework partners.
SRC implemented a “two-phase” procurement strategy, which enabled a thorough review process, ultimately leading to a 20% reduction in forecasted design and construction costs. This strategy also brought greater certainty to the scheme’s deliverability by providing a clearer understanding of potential risks.
Throughout the project, LU had real-time visibility of contractor proposals, allowing them to assess the feasibility and acceptability of designs during the engagement process. Contractors, in turn, gained a deeper understanding of LU’s expectations, which enabled them to re-engineer their proposals to better align with the project’s goals for design, buildability, and cost confidence.
This collaborative approach not only ensured optimal value but also laid a strong foundation for a successful design and build contract.
